Meet The Teacher

My name is Abigail Galvin. I am a certified teacher with 7+ years experience working in public education with students in Pre-K to 2nd Grade. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I grew up in Hampton and love the beach! I have been teaching in Hampton for 4 years now.  My dream has always been to open an in-home preschool and I am so excited about the opportunity to finally make those dreams come true! Outside of teaching I love gardening, beach walks with my dogs, reading, and baking.

My Teaching Philosophy

Children learn best when they are in a comfortable environment and our unique in-home program allows just that! The first five years of a child's life are the most crucial and this program will allow them to have a safe and comfortable learning environment, where they can learn to explore the world through hands-on experiences, both inside and outside the classroom. I believe children learn best through play and exploration which is why I have combined many different curricula to create a program that will provide a highly educational experience while also providing life skills. When we expose children to different environments and various learning experiences, we allow them to explore their self-awareness and gain a sense of the world around them. Once they leave Sand Dollar Preschool , they’re fully prepared for the next stage of their young lives. This program offers students the opportunity to garden, cook, create with natural materials, explore science through hands on experiences, and use their imagination in our "dramatic play" area. Students in this program will also explore music, art, and physical education each week. This will be an environment where students can play, learn, and grow together throughout the year, while building meaningful relationships with other children. I can't wait for you and your child to join us this fall!
